The Postmarks: ‘By The Numbers’
September 18th, 2007 by Wade Tatangelo in News
Miami-based indie pop band The Postmarks will follow their acclaimed, self-titled debut album with a series of cover songs called By The Numbers, said the band’s multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Christopher Moll in a recent phone interview with Creative Loafing to advance their Sept. 29 concert with The Apples in Stereo at Crowbar, Ybor City.
Moll wouldn’t give me any song titles but said each selection will have a numeral in the title. The songs will be released online-only via an as-yet-unconfirmed “major Internet music store.” Fans should start looking for the songs as early as October, he said.
My interview with Moll will run in the CL that hits newsstands Sept. 27.
Here are some of the suggestion I gave Moll, plus a few more I came up with after I got off the phone with him.

We were thinking about Nilsson’s “One”, but, for me, it’s really associated with Amy Mann and the “Magnolia” soundtrack. I suggested The Smiths’ “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before”, but it was recently crucified by Mark Ronson and we skipped it. Too bad, cause I think we could have nailed it.
The songs will be from numbers 1 to 12… there are several on your list that were/are in contention… I think people will be surprised by the variety… although, I really think we should have opened it with “Going For The One” by YES… or “5-4=Unity” by Pavement… nothing like pissing off the indie-/prog-rock geeks…
