Greatest Michael Jackson song?
September 2nd, 2008 by Wade Tatangelo in News, Self-indulgent musings
I typically don’t agree with readers’ poll results (being a snotty critic and all), but when RollingStone.com asked its audience to name their favorite Michael Jackson song, they voted correctly: “Billie Jean.” It’s sonic perfection with a timeless message about the importance of DNA paternity testing.
The rest of the RS list, though, is shoddy. Doesn’t even include “Smooth Criminal.” Anyway, what’s your favorite song by the recently-turned-50-year-old Freak of Pop?

Agreed.

“Dirty Diana” is a particular favorite, though I’m also partial to “Thriller,” “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough,” (hotness) “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),” (a classic) “Wanna Be Startin’ Something” … and I’m sorry, but the MJ/JanetJackson 1995 single, “Scream,” that came out on HIStory? That was badass.
(I bet none of ya’ll ever thought I was a fan of MJ, huh?)

The video for Scream is still my favorite. Classic anime style!
Best song?

Wow, this is a hard one. I would have a hard time picking a song from each album. Best video is between Smooth Criminal, and Thriller. Best song working Day and Night.

Definite favorite: “Rock With You.” Though I find it slightly disturbing that I agree with Sal.

No need to feel “slightly disturbed,” Franki. Even you are capable of reaching the refined taste of your esteemed colleague once in a while. Cherish this moment.
