Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament to drop solo disc
September 4th, 2008 by Wade Tatangelo in News
Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament’s first solo album, Tone, will be released Sept. 16 via the band’s Ten Club and select indie retailers, reports Billboard.com. The songs on the disc are culled from a batch of 35 that Ament says were never submitted for use by Pearl Jam. Which could be true. Or they’re just the duds that Eddie Vedder vetoed.
King’s X singer Doug Pinnick takes lead vocals on a number titled “Doubting Thomasina.” The rest of the cuts on Tone feature Ament, who released two albums in the 1990s with his side project Three Fish, in the frontman role. The same Billboard.com article reported that Pearl Jam will soon begin recording its ninth studio album with producer and former collaborator Brendan O’Brien.
Jeff Ament seated next to Eddie Vedder and across from Matt Dillon and Stone Gossard in that great scene from Singles.
