Best modern protest songs
September 18th, 2008 by Wade Tatangelo in Self-indulgent musings
I run down my favorite songs inspired by the wretched Bush administration in the music feature running Wed., Sept. 24. It feels like the right thing to do considering everyone from Norah Jones to Young Jeezy has taken a whack at Dubya. No matter how much you agree with the message, though, a bad tune is still a bad tune.
Bright Eyes, Randy Newman, Pearl Jam and Eminem — in no specific order — are among the acts whose songs made my Top 10.
What anti-Bush tunes have helped you get through the hard times of the past eight years?
Randy Newman performing “A Few Words in Defense of My Country.”

I don’t know if it qualifies as protest-y but Dear Mr President by Pink & the Indigo girls comes to mind. I’m not sure if Linda Perry produced that or not but it sounds like her style.
