Avett Brothers cancel Skipper’s gig
October 21st, 2008 by Wade Tatangelo in News
North Carolina acoustic rock outfit the Avett Brothers have postponed their Oct. 23 WMNF gig at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa Cuban Club in Ybor City.
I’m usually irked at this kind of shit, especially since my advance piece for the show already went to print for the edition that hits newsstands Wednesday.
But the reason the band gave is solid. Singer/banjoist Scott Avett and his wife are having their first child. Congrats, y’all. Here’s the interview I did with Scott last December.

11:08 Update from WMNF:
WMNF’s concert with The Avett Brothers, scheduled for this Thursday, 10/23/08, is postponed. Scott Avett and his wife will be enjoying the birth of their first child this week at home in North Carolina.
The concert will be rescheduled but probably not until early 2009. Those who bought tickets can hold on to their tickets until the remake date or get a refund where you bought them. If you reserved tickets with WMNF, your account has already been billed. You can request a refund or hold on to your reservation for when the show is rescheduled. Call Julie at 813-238-8001
We hope to have a make-up date in the next few days. Sorry for the confusion, and best wishes for Scott Avett and family!

not to be that guy, but the Avett’s were scheduled to play the cuban club in ybor according to their site, not skippers.

JJ: Yep, you’re right, thanks, and that info will be correct in print edition. I guess grabbing the YouTube/Skipperdome clip threw me off.
