Buffett rocks for Obama in Tampa
November 2nd, 2008 by Wade Tatangelo in News
An eclectic, highly energized crowd swarmed the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa today to catch Jimmy Buffett’s free “Last Chance for Change Rally.” The margarita maven’s message? Vote for Obama.
Florida most famous singer/songwriter delivered the message with minimal preaching, opting instead to perform his sing along hits and occasionally pepper ‘em with Obama references. For instance, on “Come Monday,” Buffett sang, “I think I’m going to the land of change.”
The all-ages audience included first-time voters Jordan Orr and Kaleb Goare. Both men are 18-year-olds living in Lakeland. Neither are particularly huge Buffett fans but both plan to vote for Obama on Tuesday.
“I look at Obama and I think of the American dream,” Orr said (pictured far left). “I’m so excited to be able to vote for him.”

Although I can’t agree with Jimmy on his choice for a presidential candidate, I have to say I respect him even more for taking the time from his perfect life to express his right to vote and be active in its process. If you deny that Jimmy has a great insight into the world today, you have little knowledge of Jimmy and his past. Just as Obama may meet the needs for Jimmy and what he thinks our country needs, John McCain meets mine. Either candidate has many pros and some cons. Lets just hope that whoever wins on Tuesday pulls our country from the recession were in. This view comes from me, a technical professional of 20+ years in an industrial environment who is currently filing bankruptcy due to the poor economy forcing automotive production to slow and therefore cutting jobs, hours and pay. A father of 2, stepfather of 3 and a wife trying to attend college. A real person trying to live in a real world.

One of JB’s rules for life, from “Tales from Margaritaville”: “Just remember, assholes are born that way, and usually don’t change”. Take a look in the mirror..!
