What’s your favorite music site?

November 18th, 2008 by Wade Tatangelo in News

In anticipation of Creative Loafing’s new music site, which we plan to debut in the very near future, and an even better Tampa Calling, featuring a killer, stable of community contributors (wanna join? hit me up), we’re building and ultimate music links feature. See what I have so far — long ass list posted after the jump — and then please tell me:

What did I miss?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  1. Scott Zepeda Says:

http://www.wfnx.com – Radio station owned by Boston Phoenix

  2. B.Treotch Says:

a few of my favorite “legal” sites:

    Jambase
    jambase.com

    The Internet Archives
    archive.org

    specifically, the audio archives:
    http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=etree&field=%2Fmetadata%2Fcreator

Jambands.com (though even typing that word makes me cringe)

  3. Scott Zepeda Says:

http://www.musicdirect.com – Audiophile equipment with huge selection of vinyl.

  4. Glenn Says:

    You missed JazzTimes.com …
which is undergoing a redesign and scheduled for re-launch for early 2009.

  5. Sarah D Says:

A little bit of shameless team promotion here, but us Twangville residents do a pretty good job and I usually try my best to post reviews of shows I go to.

    Perfect Sound Forever

This site has been online since 1993! Extensive underground archiving, contextualized present and making conections between countless netherworlds. What more could you ask for?

    The Big Takeover
    http://www.bigtakeover.com/

this magazine started as a zine in 1980 and has grown to be, by many accounts, hands down the best music publication out there. in recent years, they finally have started to make their presence felt on the web. check them out!

Thanks for the help, everyone. Some great sites listed here.

    bt.etree.org
    http://www.dimeadozen.org

these are the two sites that i upload my recordings to.

bt.etree is open to everyone and consists of taper friendly acts

dime requires registration (which is mostly full) and allows for a more diverse set of bands.

basically the open recordings go on bt and the stealth gigs are on dime.

and yes, there are a zillion different torrent sites, but these two probably contain 80% of what is out there.

    Where’s the Dylan download?

Thanks, W, I went to the Curtis Hixon show, the Bayfront show and was paid to watch a little show in Clearwater [still have the paystub] that was to be a TV special, but never released. Are you sure Rolling Thunder roared thru Lakeland?
