It's not a substitute for the real thing, and those that play aren't pretending that it is. If anything, it may encourage those to start playing. You can say the same thing for other games: Madden - go join a football league, any shooting game - go buy a paintball gun or join the army, etc. I think you guys are missing the point with this game. For probably the same price as the game and the gear, you can buy a real guitar, albeit not a great one; but one that will get you started.
