Keep Audio Fit with Rec Center and Geri X

In Commonwealth countries, the day after Christmas is known as Boxing Day or St. Stephen’s Day, when everyone commonly gathered together and celebrated in various ways. (When I lived in Dublin, Ireland, I got to see Mummers perform on the post-holiday holiday.) Sadly, in Tampa, we don’t have Mummers but thanks to THX MGMT, we were treated to a great night of local music featuring Geri X, Rec Center, Sons of Hippies, and The Actomatics.Rec Center
Rec Center is a recent addition to the Tampa music scene comprised of Tampa music veterans Susie Ulrey (formerly of Pohgoh & The Maccabees) and Michael Waksman (Zillionaire, formerly of The Washdown) with assistance from Brian Roberts (Hankshaw, Redhands and Murder-Suicide Pact) and Keith Ulrey (Zillionaire and formerly of Pohgoh & The Maccabees). The result of this collaborative mix is a unique auditory experience combining acoustic and electric guitar elements as well as organ, bells, and delicious harmonies made up of Susie’s sweet yet powerful voice and Michael’s unique and engaging voice. Keep an eye out for future show dates so you can experience their recreational therapy first hand and keep your New Year’s resolution for audio fitness!
Geri X.

Recently Tampa music fans happily welcomed Geri X home from the winterland of Wisconsin and have been delighting in her recent local performances. Her set this evening was, as expected, riveting. Keep an eye out for her new record this month.
