Stoner rock supergroup Shrinebuilder exists! Starts recording!

If Ivan’s sludge primer piqued your curiosity – or you’ve been a stoner rock aficianado for longer than your pot-addled brain can remember – this news should please you.
Shrinebuilder is the doom supergroup that will rule them all. Just look at the lineup!

Scott Kelly – Neurosis mainman
Al Cisneros – Sleep/Om bassist and singer
Dale Crover – Melvins drummer (and pounded the skins on an early Nirvana demo)
Scott “Wino” Weinrich – Singer/guitarist for [deep breath!] The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, St. Vitus, The Hidden Hand, Place of Skulls, and many others. (Photo by Julie Patterson.)
The Pitchfolks say:
According to the band’s publicist… The band is scheduled to begin recording this weekend in Los Angeles with producer Toshi Kasai. Kelly’s Neurot Recordings is set to release the album this summer. And almost as badass, Kelly has promised to liveblog the recording sessions on his perfectly-named We Burn Through the Night blog. To put things in perspective, a recent entry begins: “I was raised in the corner of the room. Backed up against the wall. Isolated. Tormented. Dominated. Intimidated.” If Kelly writes his studio blog like this, we can’t hit subscribe fast enough.
You know things are serious when a stoner rock group hires a publicist! Here are four reasons this album will be awesome.
Sleep – Dragonaut (off Sleep’s Holy Mountain)
Neurosis – A Sun That Never Sets (title track)
Melvins – Queen (off Stoner Witch)
The Obsessed – Touch of Everything (off The Church Within)
