New Roman Times conquers New World
April 24th, 2009 by elawgrrl in Concerts, Local Music, Photo review, Photos, ReviewsAustin-by-way-of-Orlando’s New Roman Times were on their best game this past Saturday, April 18, at New World Brewery as they celebrated the release of their full-length, On The Sleeve, on New Granada Records. Frequently compared with indie greats like The Pixies, Versus and Sonic Youth, NRT successfully fuses quality songwriting with dance-worthy guitar-driven rock ‘n’ roll.

New Roman Times is Daniel Owens (guitar/vocals), Josie Fluri (bass/vocals), Mike Allen (drums) and Harrris Thurmond (guitar/synths).
Opening for New Roman Times were labelmates Zillionaire (Tampa) and History (Orlando).
Zillionaire are hometown heroes with good reason – they are local, they are splendid and they continue to evolve each time they appear on stage. If you still don’t have a copy of their excellent release, The Street Lights Have Been Turned Down, head straight to your favorite independent record store and pick up a copy now. If you missed this show, Zillionaire plays with Hankshaw, King of Spain and Rec Center at New World Friday, May 8.

Zillionaire is Heath Dupras (vocals, guitar), Michael Waksman (guitar, vocals), Keith Ulrey (drums, vocals) and Bryan Bates (bass, sunny disposition).
History is an amazing aural experience that offers a pleasing mix of metal, indie and rock. As a bonus, they are also fun to watch.
History is Matt (Guitar/Vocals), Scott (Analog Keys), Patrick (Drums), Melissa (Keys/fX/Vocals) and Travis (Bass Guitar).
