Dope, I agree, but how the eff are people supposed to know what a band is about without the annoying genre labels? You simply can’t call what BMSR does “pop” and expect people who like pop music to get it. A Brittney Spears or Jonas Brothers fan is NOT gonna like Eating Us, no matter how accessible it may be compared to BMSR’s other albums. And this is coming from someone who loves the thing…

I understand where Tobacco is coming from with the blurring of genres, but come on. Genres and labels exist for a reason, categorization. If you want to make a new type of pop music, that’s fine, but if you just take all the attachments of the psychedelic music genre and call it pop, you’re being disingenuous. I’m sure it gets tiring to hear people constantly refer to what you do as psychedelic, but with a name like tobacco, I would think he would just invent a new genre name.

By the way, this article sounds like earthworms screaming about wallpaper.
