If you and three to five of your friends plan on attending a Live Nation show this summer at Ford Amphitheatre, the company waves the service fees this Wednesday, July 1. So, basically, you save money on four- and six-packs of tickets for the following shows: blink-182, Coldplay, Crue Fest 2, Def Leppard with Poison and Cheap Trick, Depeche Mode, Incubus, Rascal Flats with Darius Rucker, and the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Tour featuring Marilyn Manson and Slayer. Here’s the release:

LOS ANGELES, CA June 29, 2009 – Live Nation announced today that its “No Service Fee Wednesday” program for July 1 will continue to give music fans deep discounts on 4-Pack ticket packages and will expand the offer to include 6-Pack tickets as well. These programs already save fans money with lower prices for purchasing a 4 or 6 ticket bundle. With the service fee eliminated on 4-Packs this Wednesday, music fans will enjoy a 40% average discount when compared to the regular price of individual tickets. Fans who buy 6-Packs will save even more – an average 54% over the purchase of individual tickets.

The new offer, which is valid for all 4-Packs and 6-Packs (both lawn & reserved) at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa , runs for 24 hours beginning on Wednesday, July 1 at 12:01 a.m. local time, only at LiveNation.com. Parking, municipal taxes and certain venue fees may still apply.

The service fee free 4-Packs and 6-Packs are available only in the Tampa Bay Area at Ford Amphitheatre for concerts including but not limited to:

* blink-182
* Coldplay
* Crue Fest 2
* Def Leppard with Poison and Cheap Trick
* Depeche Mode
* Incubus
* Rascall Flats with Darius Rucker
* Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Tour featuring Marilyn Manson & Slayer

*Subject to availability at participating venues and select shows. Parking and other fees may apply. Cannot be combined with any other offer or discount.

For the past three years we’ve had to make do with listening to their 2006 album Light Grenades. Don’t get me wrong — my ears thoroughly enjoyed it (It was, after all, No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200), but after a good week of replaying the CD in my car, I carelessly tossed it in the back seat and retrograded back to my faithful Led Zeppelin collection.

I almost forgot all about my long-time love of Incubus. But I have good news friends; They’re back! Monuments and Melodies hit stores June 15th and it has been playing in my car and on my laptop ever since. The two-disc album showcases their greatest hits and new favorites to add to your list. For fans, this disc a must-have.

Once again, the multi-platnium musicians have managed to create music that withdraws the listener from reality and corners us in a place where nothing else matters. Brandon Boyd truly knows the meaning of melodies — his vocals are shocking and lyrics intricate. The title track is a dreamy love song that a fan normally wouldn’t expect from Incubus, but in the end would soon call it a personal favorite.

A surprising end to the album is a Prince cover, “Lets Go Crazy.” At first I absolutely hated it, but it grew on me and I think it was a bold move. It is evident that the band is exploring new sounds and taking risks that most bands don’t have the balls to take. And that just makes me love them even more.

Incubus has an unforgettable radio history. Recently “Love Hurts” hit the airwaves and quickly made its way to No. 1 on alternative radio. Hoping to follow in its footsteps, “Black Heart Inertia” hit radios on April 16. The response was positive.

Their Monuments and Melodies Tour kicks off on July 9t in San Diego. They come to Tampa on August 15 at the Ford Amphitheater. Get your tickets now before it’s too late and pick up a copy of Monuments and Melodies. I promise you won’t be let down.

As an addendum to my recent column, “Traveling to see music without losing your money (or your mind),” I’ve put together this small group of shows and fests that provide some good selections for music-motivated travel. If you haven’t already made travel plans this summer, here are some of your best bets.

Grizzly Bear and TV on the Radio
Saturday, June 13, The Tabernacle, Atlanta
If you wanna go, get your tickets now — it’s a Saturday night co-headlining bill featuring of two of Brooklyn’s most hip and beloved bands, both with recent albums — Grizzly’s just-released Veckatimest, TVOTR’s fantastic Dear Science from last year — so the show will most definitely sell out. I would be at this show, front row, if I wasn’t just returning from a music-motivated vacation that same Thursday.

The Decemberists (pictured) with Andrew Bird and Blind Pilot
July 18-19, Edgefield, Portland, Oregon
The chamber rock quintet only comes as close as Atlanta and plays that date on Wednesday, June 3 — not at all convenient for a road trip unless you plan on taking that week off. But the tour also includes this appealing Saturday-Sunday run in Portland, and with whistling singer/songwriter Andrew Bird, and Portland’s own indie pop duo, Blind Pilot.

All Points West Festival Music & Arts Festival
July 31-Aug. 2, Jersey City, New Jersey
The rather fatty fest lineup makes up for the unsavory setting, and you can always take a ride six miles over to NYC if you get tired of the obnoxious accents. Or the smell.
Music highlights: Tool (pictured), Coldplay, Beastie Boys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, My Bloody Valentine, Echo & The Bunnymen, Vampire Weekend, The National, MGMT, the Ting Tings, Gogol Bordello, Fleet Foxes, MSTRKRFT, Q-Tip, the Pharcyde, Ra Ra Riot, Arctic Monkeys, Neko Case, Crystal Castles, Kool Keith, The Black Keys, Elbow, Telepathe, Tokyo Police Club, White Rabbits, the Postelles, Silversun Pickups, the Gaslight Anthem, Steel Train, Heartless Bastards, Mogwai, Ghostland Observatory, Lykke Li, Akron/Family and others.

Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival
August 28-30, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco
San Francisco is fun to visit, fog and all — there are literally dozens upon dozens of things to do aside from the music; the Ghirardelli Square (free chocolate!), Chinatown, Amoeba Music, Haight-Ashbury, City Lights … And this eco-friendly fest boasts a bevy of awesome acts with more TBA.
Music highlights: Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Incubus, Beastie Boys, Black Eyed Peas, M.I.A., Ween, The Mars Volta, Conor Oberst & the Mystic Valley Band, Lucinda Williams, Thievery Corporation, Tom Jones, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Mastodon, Raphael Saadiq, Band of Horses, TV on the Radio, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Bat for Lashes, The Avett Brothers, Silversun Pickups, Calexico, Os Mutantes, Tea Leaf Green, Deerhunter, The National, Q-tip, Calexico, Kinky, The Dodos, Lila Downs, Bettye Lavette, Los Campesinos!, Lenka, Akron/Family John Vanderslice, The Morning Benders, West Indian Girl, Portugal. The Man, and Extra Golden.
