Tweaked, But Disease Free!

According to WUSF’s weekly University Beat, a USF Professor has discovered a direct link between caffeine and Alzheimer’s prevention. Enough caffeine can even reverse some of the effects of Alzheimer’s, the equivalent of 500mg per day. It also helps prevent Parkinson’s, type II diabetes, cirhossis, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, and suicide.
500mg is only about 5 cups of coffee, so I guess I’ll have to cut back. Anything for my health. If only it could cure insomnia.

Let me just throw this out there:
Should we believe all of these great benefits of coffee (and you forgot preventing cavities and gum disease, another recent “revelation”)?
Coffee is the second highest traded commodity on the market. It puts billions into the world economy from the growers in Africa, South American and Hawaii to the Starbucks that litter the American (and soon world) landscape.
Is it too conspiratorial to think maybe these studies are being paid for by those with ties to coffee? We should really look at this…

Hey, you’re right! As soon as they started listing the various ailments caffeine could cure, I assumed that this research was a glorified Coffee Syndicate commercial, but you’re also missing a fundamental point. I want a justification for my large consumption of caffeine - propaganda or not, this works just fine. Now excuse me while I get a fresh Diet Mountain Dew.
