Breakfast Links for Monday, May 15
May 14th, 2007 by Cooper Levey-Baker in NewsSteve Stanton: No more. Long live Susan.
+ What the change could mean for Sarasota. [cl]Â
+ What it meant for Steve. [tampabay]
+ Anyone not noticed the clusterbomb of Sarasota Singles signs dropped from overheard over the past couple weeks? Here’s what you find when you log on. (Love the option: “I am dating someone who has different goals than me.”) [sarasotasingles]
+ A female gondolier shakes up centuries of “tradition” in Venice. Nice article, but a tragic, credibility-killing slip-up in the final paragraph. There is no such “Piazza St. Angelo.” There’s only one piazza in all of Venice. Duh. [nytimes]
+ Pitckfork not kind to the new Wilco disc, Sky Blue Sky. Best insult? A guitar “solo that’s straight-up Weather Channel Local on the 8s.” Ouch. [pitchfork]
+ Maybe Tony Snow’s band can show Wilco a thing or two at tonight’s gig. Flute solos rock! [beatsworkinvirginia via slate]
+ And, from The Onion’s Special Women’s Issue, an oldie but a goodie: “Women Now Empowered By Everything a Woman Does.” [the onion]

So whaddy’all think:
Susan Stanton, Hot or Not?

Tell you what’s hot: DeGregory’s story. I don’t recall the last time I read a news feature so artfully constructed… and with some deft pronoun choice. Stanton (both Steve and Susan) deserves lucid and honest coverage like this. (Hats off to CL as well, of course.)
