Stanton’s still alive
May 15th, 2007 by max linsky in NewsFrom a computer-less Joel:
You’ve seen her on TV: that brand-new strut, the way she tears up the
Capital in business skirts and pumps. Or you’ve caught her in the papers:
that confident face, now powdered, tweezed and glossed.
But at the end of the month, you won’t need any media filter to catch a glimpse of Sue Stanton’s new look. You can see her for yourself at the Van Wezel.
Today Stanton made final cut in the high(er-than-expected)-profile race for
city manager, along with five others. On May 29, the candidates will appear
for a meet-n-greet with locals, an ogling opportunity if there ever was one.
Historical!
I spoke earlier today with Mercer Group head hunter Tom Freijo, the guy in charge of the city manager search, who was audibly psyched with his Top Six. I asked whether making this selection had
been easy.
“It’s never easy,” he said. “A lot of careful research goes into the whole
thing.” Background checks, reference checks, infinite late-night
Google searches. But in all this, I wondered, did Stanton stand out in any
way?
“Not really,” said Freijo, evasive. “Longevity is one of the big factors,
and at least four of them had [public sector] tenures of ten years or
greater.”
Expect that to be the only issue that comes up at the Weez.
