Sure, you know about the Royal with Cheese, but do you now about these?

+ Tampa Bay’s future, in legos. [poho]
+ The HT’s out with their city manager candidate profiles, all the big names are here: Daniel Fitzpatrick, Terry Zerkle, Patrick Salerno, Robert Bartolotta, Marsha Segal-George, and some other woman. [ht]
+ I can’t figure this column out. Do the commissioners want an excuse to not hire Stanton? Does Lyons? [ht]

The McShawarma brings back so many memories of my alienated, culturally chaotic youth, it’s not even funny.
Practically my whole family lives in Haifa, Israel, and when I was little, I used to spend whole summers abroad with my grandparents. I still recall trips to the mall in Qiryat Bialik, where the food court provided so many mouth-watering options — falafel, burekas, fried pita — I would eat like a Third-World cripple before passing out from chewing exhaustion. But my favorite was a burger chain called, fittingly, “Burger Ranch” (”Boorger,” if you wanna be all authentic about it), an American-Israel fusion with a cowboy/rancher theme.
The place’s piece de resistance was something called a Spanish burger (”Burger Sefaradi”), spicy and with like this enormous fucking pile of sauteed onions smeared with hot sauce.
‘Cause you’ve never, felt heartburn like this before. (Open my eyes.)
At this point, I’ve sampled fast food all over the world, but I’ve honestly never tasted anything to rival the Israeli take on Spanish hamburgers. Taco Bell comes close, but their sauce isn’t NEAR spicy enough. And with McShawarma now on the horizon, well, I guess it’s worth a trip back to the Qiryat food court.
    בתיאבון

    totally off topic:
here is where all the bees went:
    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/21/bees.fundraiser.ap/index.html?eref=rss_us

they were just in bee bootcamp for massive takeover of earth. this was just a successful practice run.

at this point, there’s nothing that bees could do to surprise me. throw a dinner party, shave points in a basketball game, develop nuclear weapons … nothing
