August 20th, 2007 by Brian Ries in Food and Drink, NewsIn honor of the first day of school, here’s a quick glimpse into the stomachs of Sarasota’s future: public school menus, Lakewood Ranch ODA menus, and, well, I couldn’t find any menus posted for Newgate or Cardinal Mooney.
As always, the public schools seem to have a big, institutional leg up on providing interesting and healthy food. And kudos to the SRQ School Board for the comprehensive nutritional info posted on the website. Chicken nuggets in brown rice? That’s a huge leap from the gravy covered chopped steak I remember from my youth.
