Yeah, update on Michael Pukac, former artist in Sarasota, FL. That group, the Guild of Irregulars dispanded a while ago. Pukac moved to Los Angeles California in December 2007 and is still there showing in galleries and doing live painting performances at least every weekend at different LA art galleries and venues. He's currently recognized as a thriving emerging artist in LA's underground art scene.
Looks like leaving town was a good thing for this artist.
Check out more info: http://www.michaelpukac.com

Hey! So, there is (or was?) a group of young artists/musicians/playwrites who banded together under the name Guild of Irregulars. They paraded up and down Palm Avenue toting their paintings in a "moving gallery" to counteract the lack of response they had been getting from local "fine art" galleries. How cool is that? They host (and still do?) a free, open studio for young local artists to hang out, paint, play music, write, and talk called the Hippodrome off of Bayshore near the Ringling Museum. Michael Pukac (www.michaelpukac.com) is (was?) an active member and "founding father" of said guild. He is a young local artist, recently featured in the now-deceased Paradigm art gallery. He's always covered in paint, shops at Art & Frame, and is a pleasure to talk to. While I haven't yet read the cover article (but, of course, plan to VERY soon), he is a notable figure in our community when it comes to "doing your own thing'. And he should be mentioned. Also, Daniel Bilodeau is cool, young, and doing what he does. He was (is) featured at Dabbert Gallery. That's all.
