Exclusive Season of Sculpture Preview
October 26th, 2007 by Cooper Levey-Baker in Arts, News
Details about this year’s edition of Season of Sculpture (which kicks off November 11) keep trickling in. First, we heard abouth “the tooth,” and now, Season executive director Brenda Terris has clued us in to “Dance,” pictured above. The Dustin Shuler sculpture is just what it looks like: a dozen classic cars stood on end, leaning against each other in pairs and arranged in a rough circle. And yes, those are full-sized automobiles. “Dance” is set to be installed in the grassy area on the northeast corner where John Ringling Boulevard, North Tamiami Trail and North Gulfstream Avenue intersect. More than a year after “Unconditional Surrender” was pulled down from the bayfront, “Dance” seems destined to become Season’s next big conversation-starter. Let the debate begin.
