Slideshow: Scott Gibson (1966 - 2008)
May 14th, 2008 by Amanda Schurr in Music, NewsMany thanks to everyone who’s logged on and shared their memories of Scott Gibson, who died of a heart attack at age 41 last Tuesday, May 6. In an overwhelming response, he’s been called a “Sarasota legend,” “baby brother,” “uncle Scotty,” “force of nature,” “family,” “true friend” — “the better man” who “looked for the good in others” and whose “immense talent and heart were one and the same.” A musician who could wail through “Purple Rain” like nobody’s business, he will be known as a supremely kind, supportive and positive soul whose bear hugs were as storied as his playing.
Among the many words of affection, one seems most repeated, and most fitting — “always.”
Always, Scott. Always.

Just a heads up: The song excerpted above, “The Game of Time,” while recorded by The Amazing Dog & Pony Show, was actually performed by Turning Wheel for this particular track.

here ar the lyrics for “game of time”: “game of time” basehore, gibson, campbell TIME IS WIND, IT BLOWS OVER ME FEEL MY JOY, AND SING A SONG ABOUT THE SUN. REASONS WHY, I CAN’T DECIDE WHICH WAY TO WALK THIS TIME, IT’S ALL MINE. AND THEN THE RIVER OVERFLOWS, AND WE ARE ALL WASHED….IN TIME. I AM A MAN, WHO CAN’T DECIDE WHICH WAY TO WALK THIS TIME, IT’S ALL MINE. THE PATH IS WORN, FOOTSTEPS IN THE DUST. BUT EVERYONE KNOWS THEY’VE NEVER BEEN HERE, NOT THIS TIME OF YEAR. BECAUSE WHEN THE WIND BLOWS IT RAINS ON ALL THE TREES THAT GROW IN THE GARDEN, FOR YOU AND ME, FOREVER WE’LL BE FREE, WHEN WE PLAY THE GAME OF TIME YOU ARE SKY, I DON’T KNOW WHY COME ON NOW LET’S TRY, TO FLY SO HIGH I AM NOT SURE WHY THESE THINGS WILL NEVER BE I WILL NOT WATCH OUR FREEDOMS DIE BECAUSE IN THIS TIME, GREED IS THE ONLY CRIME THAT A MAN HAS ON HIS MIND I WILL TELL HIM ABOUT WHAT THE SUN CAN BRING TO HIM
rest in peace, brother
