The truth and a little porn

Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times makes a compelling case for the need for a truth commission to help America get past all the lies that led us into Iraq and that have compromised our values via torture and usurpation of the Constitution since then.

The United States has probably the strongest protections in the world for free speech, but that does not mean that the forces of censorship are not hard at work every day:

• Good thing we have groups like this.

• Sadly, the highest level of freedom of speech often does not extend to the internet.

• One final bit on the real meaning of Independence Day.
