We know what you did this summer — ’cause, well, you told us

August 7th, 2008 by Amanda Schurr in Arts

In this week’s issue, CL caught up with a few local visual artists featured in a March cover story. Below, two members of the performing arts community fill us in on how they’ve been keeping busy…

From Asolo Rep company member David Breitbarth, seen last season as Paul in Misery, Erskine in Smash and Kenny in Lady: “I’m on my way to Peterborough, NH, to be in the Peterborough Players 75th anniversary season’s production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town (he wrote it while at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough), starring the ageless James Whitmore. I was offered the job last week. The Players rented me a car and paid for the gas so I packed up my dog and some insect repellent and hit the road. …Wacky business.

It’s a summer stock theater unto itself for 75 years. I’m here for a month. Then home.

I just saw a mosquito the size of my knee on my foot.”

From Christine Alexander at AnythingArts.com and Lazy Fairy Improv: “We have a bunch of stuff coming up. Lazy Fairy Improv Troupe is performing at Home Resource [7:30 p.m. Aug. 14, $12.] and The Players — www.lazyfairy.com…. Tickets available at SRQBoxOffice.com. …

(Most of us also perform at Florida Studio Theatre on Sat. nights through Oct. 11 — but FST is not affiliated with the others.)

One of our Lazy Fairy actors [Ed.’s note, and former CL Townie], Zan, is going on tour with [comedian] Chonda Pierce mid-Aug. playing for audiences in the 4,500 range; we are THRILLED for her.”
