We know what you did this summer, part two
August 8th, 2008 by Amanda Schurr in Arts, NewsIn continuation of yesterday’s post, here are a couple more responses from members of the local arts community on what they’ve been up to lately.
To begin, catching up with Mark Ormond, former associate director of Greene Contemporary and all-around classy gent: “I was in Paris visiting a friend and took a computer fast devoting all my time to soaking up what the city has to offer. What an eye opener. No sight or sounds of Americans. The galleries and museums provide an intoxicating amount of old and new art to see. Also in Washington, D.C. for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival to see friends from Bhutan (the featured country) that I visited in 2006. Now off to Philadelphia and New York. I am organizing a show for the Art Center opening September 4. I also continue my individual and institutional consulting. I am writing the catalogue essay for a show of Luisa Basnuevo’s work opening in November at the new museum at FIU in Miami. And in a few weeks I begin teaching my Art Business course at [Ringling College of Art and Design.] I also continue my other writing for publications in town.”
And from Tim Jaeger, artist and gallery director of Canvas Cafe: “I have a lot of stuff going on a the moment… Here is a list of what is happening with me and my own art at the moment.
1. “Dirty Lenin” solo show at Galerie Dal Rey in New Orleans opening Aug. 9 www.galeriedalray.com
2. I have a show opening in mid Oct. in Bordeaux (but I have not gotten the name of the gallery yet, but it is through the people that Tobey [Albright, Ed.'s note: Click here] and I stayed with in France). I am making 7 new paintings for that which will be sent out on the 13th. Three of which will be traveling onto the FIAC 2008 at the Grand Palais and the Cour Carree du Louvre in late Oct.
3. I just finished my 2nd wine label for Chateau L’ Hesperit in Montcaret, that will be distributed in Hong Kong
4. I have a group show opening (5 works) at Serrano Contemporary in Chelsea on Sept. 11, which I am preparing for.
5. I am having a solo exhibition at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, KY on Nov. 15 (15-20 works) www.theyeiser.org
You can view most of these works and get information on my site at www.regeajstudio.com …I am constantly updating….”
