Top 11 Stories I Want to Write in 2009

December 19th, 2008 by Tim Sukits in News, Sarasota-Manatee, Sports

As a newly anointed Sarasotan I feel an obligation to investigate the city through the eyes of an outsider. This place has a rich history, an amazing arts scene, a dynamic citizenry and some totally kick-ass rec activities. I’ve never been one to pass up an opportunity to try something new, or to try something old in a new place. These are some of the stories I’m dying to bring you in 2009.

1. The Dirt on MURT

Running along the Bayfront Multi-use Recreation Trail, or the MURT, is quite nice from its starting point at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens on up Bayfront Drive to the Ritz-Carlton. However, somewhere after the two mile mark it starts to get a bit confusing. Eventually, the city’s goal is to connect the MURT with the Crosley/Caples Baywalk in Manatee County. I would start with getting it to Ringling College. So, how’s the progress on that project going?
