The North Tamiami Trail spot that used to house Ethiopian restaurant and hipster hangout Fly has sat empty for years now, but good news: A new bar opened in the location on Wednesday. Named The Alley Bar & Lounge, the spot is still a bit of a work in progress, but proprietor Brian Zickafoose has a plan. The bar’s MySpace page lays it out:

The Alley Bar Sarasota will be the Areas newest all Gay Owned and Operated Bar. Weather your in the mood to just sip on a martini and watch the cars go by on our patio, or your ready for a Big Night Out with drinking and dancing, we hope you’ll join us. Our promise to Sarasota is that we will NEVER charge a cover and we will always provide first class customer service with friendly staff. As patrons of Bars and Nightclubs, we have been all over and experienced many different establishments. We will use our experience as both patrons and bar owners to bring you parties and entertainment that have never before been seen in the area. As our friend on myspace, we will deliver information to you as we receive it with respect to opening dates and parties. Stay tuned for your invite.
