Creative Loafing Half-Hour Variety Hour: Episode #14 (Part 2)

It’s that time again, folks, time for the best banter on the Suncoast.

This week, Food Editor Brian Ries and I welcome a Half-Hour Variety Hour first-timer to the studio: Editorial Intern Robert Johnson! What are we chatting about? Better question: What are we not chatting about?

We start with Brian, who fills us in on all the latest from our 2009 Food Issue, the Summer of Pig. Then we smoothly transition into great news from Bradenton: Lucky Star delivers the best Chinese on the Suncoast.

After the break, we bring Robert into the fold, and talk about his feature for us this week, all about the Asolo’s new production of Souvenir, which tells the life story of the terribly talent-less Florence Foster Jenkins. Then, we wrap things up with a recap of this week’s cover story, all about glam-punk legends the New York Dolls.
