— Fruitville Road is set to get spruced up, starting today: The “gateway” to downtown will receive some shrubs and trees. The price tag? $300,000.

— A joint meeting between Sarasota City and County commissioners gets a bit testy, when City Commissioner Fredd “Glossie” Atkins accuses county reps of neglecting Newtown. “The characterization of neglect is inappropriate,” responds County Commissioner Jon Thaxton. Oooooohhhhh! It’s on, yo!

— Episode 35 of Clout 941 has finally been posted, after a bit of a delay. This week, host Ron Filipkowski interviews Sarasota Democratic Chairman Rita Ferrandino. (Full disclosure: I worked with Ferrandino when I worked as an Obama field organizer last fall.)
