Local Glenn Beck 9-12 group: “We don’t need no health care”

July 7th, 2009 by Cooper Levey-Baker in Editor's Desk, News, Politics, Sarasota-Manatee

Due to the holiday weekend, I haven’t had time till now to post about a podcast interview conservative blogger Richard Swier conducted with a representative of our local faction of Glenn Beck’s 9-12 Project last Thursday. Swier chatted with the woman while she was visiting the office of Rep. Vern Buchanan to thank him for voting against the recently passed climate change legislation, and to urge him to fight against new health care initiatives proposed by President Obama and the Democrats in Congress.

Here are some choice excerpts from the 9-12 rep:

“We don’t need no health care.”

“We have a wonderful health care system here. The poor are already being taken care of. They just have to go to an emergency room and they’re taken care of.”

“The administration is trying to bring down the economy of this country.”

Yeah that’s why I have to pay through my Property Taxes about $1500 an year to the Memorial Hospital for people who do not have health care. Then I pay again for my own Healthinsurance and on top of that co-pay when I go to the ER.
