— “During an update on the city’s plan to reintroduce parking meters downtown, Commissioner Terry Turner said he thought it was a bad time to implement what he saw as a tax on merchants and their customers.” Turner’s alone on this one, though, and parking meters are still going forward.

— The Sarasota Herald-Tribune examines the legacy of former Secretary of Defense/war criminal Robert McNamara by looking at his history with… UFOs.

— On Clout 941 this week, Ron Filipkowski sits down with Sarasota County School Board member Caroline Zucker and calls out State Sen. Mike Bennett as his Weasel of the Week. Apparently, at a recent Republican fundraiser, Bennett praised Democratic State Rep. Keith Fitzgerald. The problem? Fitzgerald’s 2010 Republican opponent, Ray Pilon, was sitting right in front of him at the time. Nice.
