Wired Whisk Bakery ceases retail operation but still baking special orders
July 10th, 2009 by Brian Ries in Food and Drink
Ran into Christine Nordstrom — the talented baker behind Wired Whisk (which I wrote about here and here – at the grocery store the other day. She told me that she’s decided to close her retail store and concentrate solely on special orders and her growing wholesale business. The move will allow her to cut payroll expenses and move to a bigger production space (that also happens to be cheaper).
A shame for anyone who’s fallen in love with her cupcakes and rely on an occasional drive-by sweet fix. Now, we’ll just have to plan ahead and order more to tide us over. Or you can taste her stuff at the new cafe in the Lakewood Ranch Cinema, or at dessert at the unGala, or at any of a dozen other local coffe shops and restaurants.
