Strange Matter: Peeling back the mask… Climb inside the geeky recesses of my cranium

November 11th, 2009 by Andrew Konietzky in Arts, Books, Film, News, Sarasota-Manatee

CL Party 1I realized this past weekend that some of my readers out there don’t really know me. So I decided to take the time this week to peel back the layers, just a bit to let you see who I am.

My name is Andrew E. Konietzky and I am 38 and a native Floridian. Friends call me Andrew or Drew and my online handle has been NeuroMan42 for over 20 years now. I was hatched from the breeding chambers in Daytona Beach, and moved to Sarasota just before getting married. I went through a divorce a little over a year ago, which sucks, but I think I am a better person for experiencing it.

In my daily life I am a writer, VO artist, podcaster, and a system tech. I am basically bootstrapping myself into writing as my career. After all, it is what I am most passionate about in my life. I write various articles, short stories, and some work on novels. I am currently a freelance writer for obviously, Creative Loafing. I have done some broadcasting in the past: co-hosting, writing and producing various podcasts. I also do voice-over work from time to time, when the gig is interesting and fun.

I normally read about three or four books at the same time. I read everything I can get my hands on that interests me. My all time favorite series of books is the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I read sci-fi, fantasy and horror mostly. For horror I love Poe and Lumley, but my favorite horror author is H.P. Lovecraft. Nothing today comes close, except sometimes maybe Stephen King. I own an extensive collection of DVDs… various indie films and many cult classics. I am a huge movie buff and I love all styles of film and theater. I have a really weird and obscure sense of humor, and my brain store all sorts of strange info. If I could only use my brain for the good of mankind, that would be a wondrous thing.

I currently have a personal blog, a writing blog with various writing samples, and an older audio blog from a while back. I really need to keep up on the audio blog more, as I still have a great deal of fans from back then. Well, that about wraps up a brief glimpse into your host in Strange Matters. I really enjoy the CL team and the many new friends I have made at recent events. I hope to meet even more of folks that make the West Coast of Florida the great place that it is. I will continually bring you the weird, obscure, and downright geeky to everyone in the Suncoast area. I also swear to uphold truth, justice, and a creative way to loaf.

Ya know, I was thinking about coming and visiting Florida for the winter. So I thought I would look up some news to get a feel for it. So what do I find? This! What a complete waste of time. I don’t care who you are just tell me what’s going on!

    Agreed.
