Police: ASU Student Made Up Story That Led To Lockdown: Matthew Haney, an Appalachian State University student, must have a vivid imagination since he reported seeing a gunman. This lead to a 90-minute campus lockdown. Police said early on March 4 Haney admitted he made up the story. He told police and Eyewitness News that he saw an armed man wearing a ski mask inside his off-campus apartment March 3.

Officer shot: ‘I’ll never be the same’: During a police standoff a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was shot in the head. Thirty-four-year-old Christopher Ellerbe was found guilty of two counts of first-degree attempted murder of Officer Kayvan Hazrati and Officer William Parks. “I’ll never be the same, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to continue to fight like I did that day,” said Officer Kayvan Hazrati.
