Then they did away with all of the nice stores and eating places; replacing them with bars and sports venues. What do they expect uptown to be? It is full of homeless, drunks and thugs. That is what the above mentioned things draw. It will never be safe because the people who frequent these places want to keep it this way. I no longer go downtown. There is very little there that interests me. I don't even like to go to Discovery Place because of the location. Uptown Charlotte use to be the place for families to go.
