Friday, May 29
Art: The Making AIDS Work: Stories of Beauty and Affliction exhibition at Warehouse 242 features a series of photographs Stevan Talevski snapped while visiting South Africa with folks from Warehouse 242.
Theater: Performances of the satirical play Day of Absence – acted in a reverse minstrel show format with African-Americans playing the parts of Caucasians – will go down at the Afro-American Cultural Center.
Music: Mark Kano, front man of the now defunct Greensboro-based band Athenaeum, will rock out solo with Mike Garrigan at The Evening Muse tonight.
Saturday, May 30
Theater: Be prepared for some wetness, as Carolina Actors Studio Theatre presents Metamorphoses, a production dripping in myths related to water.
Special Event: Love your dog? Grab the leash and take your four-legged friend to Pet Palooza at Independence Park.
Festival: It’s ladies night, but men can come too. Head to NoDa for FemmeFest and celebrate women in music and arts with a variety of music acts and entertainment.
Sunday, May 31
Special Event: Cup of tea? Get it during It’s Tea Time, an event designed to help educate and empower young girls (and their parents). The event goes down today at Lockstar Salon.
Food: If it’s beef you want, What’s Your Beef Butcher and Deli in Waxhaw is the place to visit.
Theater: Tis’ a free performance of Shakespeare’s love triangle of a comedy, Twelfth Night at The Green Uptown.
