O’Reilly’s wisdom re: Michael Jackson

July 7th, 2009 by John Grooms in Boomer with an Attitude

Pardon me for using an outdated term, but “outdated” is the theme here: If there’s a more clueless square than Bill O’Reilly in this world, I don’t want to know about it. Yesterday, O’Reilly showed his deep ignorance and lack of affinity for his own nation’s culture, and how it has changed since the days of I Love Lucy, by his doofus comments on Michael Jackson. Since the singer died, the media has gone predictably nuts in the way the media always does — at least in the last, say, 25 years — when something happens that affects lots of people. O’Reilly, who has shown many times how oblivious he is to cultural changes, is apparently amazed at how much adulation is being directed toward Jackson since the singer’s death last week. Moreover, he’s really excited that — gasp! — African-Americans are following the Jackson story more intently than white people, “even though he chose to have white children … and the face deal, I don’t want to get into it …” Take a look at this bit of banality, in which O’Reilly manages to get in some sexist condescension toward his two female guests while also insulting an entire racial group and a deceased popular entertainer — whose tribute/memorial service/concert takes place in Los Angeles whether O’Reilly likes it or not.

What Grooms is looking for really is not there. Bill was speaking the truth. The truth may hurt if you dont want to hear it so I suppose this is what bothered Grooms. I did not see anything sexist or racist. Bill actually defended MJ on some of the more wacko issues concerning MJ.

Its always nice to focus on the fluffy things in life, while everthing else is falling apart.

Why didnt Grooms give a quote of what was so offensive in his view? Because there is no there there.

I did not see it in this clip but every now and then Bill does say something a tad bit demeaning to his competition. The only thing is that he does this to all his competition that are on the same network for both men and women. I admit that wen I saw him do this to a Kelly I noticed but once I started looking out for it he actually did this to all competition on his channel. He used comments like “your little morning show” and stuff like that. I would advice him to stop doing this all together but I see it as just spiritful competition between co-workers. THose looking for the devil will of course see evil and focus only on the woman component to put it in the worst possible light.

Bill has the hishest rated cable news show by three times over. Also FOX had the intire top ten list of highest rated shows (for news) to itself last week. Also the conservatives only make up a minority of views on the FOX network, 1/3 of all views are democrats. I think people really are figuring out where they will get the best quality news. Fox allows the raving loons on the left to spout their ideas so they can crash and burn on public TV. This fairness allows people to see both sides of an issue. Anyways the proof is in the ratings so there is not much debate even possible on this topic.

What a piece of garbage Bill O Reilly is… . Michael raised millions of dollars for starving kids in Africa long before it became chic to do so. And his music and dance will live on long after I’m gone. What has Bill O given that is even comprable to what Michael Jackson gave. Bill o is just a speck of dust, no one remember him when he’s dead. Michael will live on forever.

Bill actually gives the proceeds from online sales of items to charity. I do not remember which but he does give tons of money to charity.

Research before you speak so loudly on a topic.

There is no need to blast either guy. Bill defended MJ in that clip so I do not see the need for such negative energy on this.
