Obama to sheriff: Release undocumented immigrants

July 8th, 2009 by Rhiannon Bowman in News

When will he ask the same of Mecklenburg County Sheriff Daniel “Chipp” Bailey?

Let’s hope soon. Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but they’ve got other things they could be doing with their time and our taxpayer dollars besides conducting blatant racial profiling.

The Obama administration has ordered a Nashville, Tenn., sheriff to release some illegal immigrants swept up on minor charges. The move has drawn criticism from enforcement advocates and concerns of a return to the widely criticized “catch and release” policy.

The 287(g) program has been criticized by immigrant-rights groups as unfair and inhumane. A congressional report released in March criticized the $40 million federal program, saying it is rounding up minor offenders instead of the serious criminals it was designed to nab.

The program is operating in eight N.C. jails, including Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Gaston counties.

  1. Frank Griffin Says:

Some of our biggest criminals were caught due to a minor traffic stop. These race baiters scream racial profiling when what they are doing is charge profiling. Just because the things that are found out as a consequence of the initial arrest are not of axe murderer caliber they should not be ignored. Anyone that gets arrest has to tell who they are and where they are from and if you lie about it or have fake documents they will try to find out who you really are. Also how much extra work is it to get information on someone you already have in custody. Bowman makes it seem like they have to do tons of extra work to see if they are illegals when thats not even true.

On a side note these immigrants are taking american jobs and lowering the wages offered for low skilled labor positions. In times of plenty this was fine but now that we are on hard times this is not such a win win situation anymore.

What Bowan wants is called blatant stupidity?
