Don’t do a Matilda

Hey, Amigos and Amigals. You don’t have to take your money or run Venezuela in order to celebrate Venezuela’s Independence Day. You merely need to execute a teeny border crossing and show up this Sunday at Plaza Fiesta, 3700 Avenue of the Carolinas, in sunny Fort Mill between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Music, dancing, and admission are free at the biggest Venezuelan fiesta ever to hit the Metrolina area. At the center of the musical mix are Eta Carina, the hot/spicy/sexy rhumba band fronted by husband-and-wife team “West” Bolz and Iliana Ramìrez.

Now you can bring your money – and your kids – down to South Carolina, since event promoters are promising food, drinks, and crafts, along with multitudinous surprises for your favorite anklebiter. Other entertainment headliners are Tambores de San Juan with their Venezuelan drums and Dj Cali and the Crazy Hour Samba Dancers.

And if you were considering the other alternative – don’t. Venezuela officially celebrated their Independence Day on July 5.
