Where was this outrage over invisible WMDs?
September 10th, 2009 by Cheris Hodges in NewsNever thought it could happen, but there is a bigger ass in South Carolina than Mark Sanford.
His name is Congressman Joe Wilson. You know, the idiot who called President Barack Obama a liar during his speech last night. Here’s my question: Where was this truth fighter under eight years of former president George W. Bush?
Let’s start with the war in Iraq. If a president ever deserved to be called a liar, it was then. Yet, Wilson was silent — along with the Democrats.
Weapons of Mass Destruction were the cornerstone for invading Iraq in 2003, but there were none. Did Wilson call Bush a liar?
Now Wilson is doing the “contrite” thing after making an ass of himself and disrespecting the President of The United States.
“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me,” he said in a statement. “While I disagree with the president’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility.”
He then tried to call Obama to apologize personally, but ended up talking with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel instead, Wilson’s office said.
Biden said today that he hadn’t spoken with Obama, but, “knowing the president, I’m sure he accepted the apology.”
Here’s another issue I have with the Democrats: Why are they taking this disrespect as if it is OK? Someone from the other side of the aisle should call Wilson out. Not in the media, not during a presidential address, but on the floor. Someone in the Donkey party needs to grow a pair and tell those Elephants that enough is enough. If you guys want to be dirty and disrespectful to the Commander in Chief, then expect the same treatment.
But Will Moredock from the Charleston City Paper says it best (and what I’m sure many people are going to deny):
What we saw last night was racism, pure and simple. Republicans did not treat Bill Clinton with such disrespect even when they impeached him.
It’s time to draw the line on this behavior and one way to do it is to call for Wilson’s censure by his House colleagues. Go to http://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/5649/t/4997/content.jsp?content_KEY=2825&tag=pof_e1 and say it’s time to censure Joe.
I concur.

A quick comment to note that Will Moredock was a news writer for Creative Loafing about a decade ago. I was editor then and Will and I had a falling out, but we’re OK now and, as a matter of fact, he and I communicated by e-mail about Big Mouth Joe this morning. Thanks, Cheris, for giving Will his due.

The funny thing is that OBAMA lies over and over again.
What the democrats call a lie for Bush was just a mistake on one piece of his reasons for war. There are more than one kind of WMD. Chemical weapons are considered WMD too yea know and we found some of these weapons. Many sources of information swore there were nuke developments in Iraq. Since Bush took their advice we should say Bush was wrong or made a mistake. Liberals with nothing to gripe about insist on saying he lied instead of he made a mistake. This is why many people do not trust Democrats to tell the truth.
Since Obama is actually telling lies I think it was incredibly useful to call him out on it to his face at the speech when he tells the lie or lies. If Obama had a real town hall without his pre arranged audience he would discover how much of the public thinks he is a fool at best or communist at worst.
“I concur.”
This proves Hodges is an idiot doesn’t it.
Anything that is against Obama has to be racism. Wanna bet Hodges thinks that I am a racist too. If you don’t have a good argument then hey lets just callem a racist and end the discussion.
BTW the Democrats have said many more and worse thngs about Bush at public events. The only difference is that Democrats can’t handle the heat.

Bush lies and Obama’s lies are exactly same.
Time and time and time again, Bush, Cheney, Rice and etc. came in front of the American people and the UN lying about Iraq’s WMD and how they were a threat to us.
Bush lied and lied and lied about the need to get the Patriot Act passed OR ELSE.
Bush lied and lied and lied about the need to pass the medicare drug benefit OR ELSE.
Bush lied and lied and lied to get the 1st bailout passed OR ELSE.
No use trying to sugarcoat republican attacks on the constitution. Plus, they lie just as much and as bad as democrats.
You will NEVER see a republican openly challenge a republican president even when it is clear they are lying through their teeth. And vice versa for the democrats.
I like what Wilson did. But, its clear he only did it because of the illegal alien part. Not because of the socialized medicine.
I know you still think Republicans are somehow better than democrats. I used to think that too. But when you look at their record you’ll find that they’re huge spenders and liars. They’re so far removed from their platform it aint even funny.

Why was it acceptable for the Dems to boo and disrupt the 2004 State of the Union address and the 2005 address regarding Social Security Reform, but now it’s not acceptable because there is a Democrat in the Oval Office. I think both incidents are rude, this is suppose to be the land of free speach. Do we only believe that when it aligns with our own views? Everyone else should be repressed, heckled, intimidated, etc. It makes me sick!

while we all play our political games, thousands of Americans are without health care. Regardless of anything else, what about them?
Our politics is sickening.

“But when you look at their record you’ll find that they’re huge spenders and liars.”
I agree with yea LUKE on this but it’s as clear as day to me who lies more and who spends more and who will do the most harm.
The patriot act seems to have worked now didnt it with no deaths in 8 years. Obama’s 8 percent unemployeement if we pass the stimulous seems to have failed. Luke I just callem as I see em.
“while we all play our political games, thousands of Americans are without health care. ”
Everyone has health care but not insurance. Everyone does not have equal health care but thats what money is for dudes. We are all getting so detacted from reality we think we are some how entitled to anything we want or need for that matter. Just because we are a rich nation does not mean that the government has a right to take our money and spread it around. Charities should serve us in this capacity not government force.

Patriot Act didnt make us safer, Govt cant make things safer.
We still had the DC terror shootins AFTER the patriot act.
If gun laws werent so restrictive, 9/11 would not have happened.
Only an armed citizenry can keep America safe.
Republicans have a terrible record on the right to bear arms.
Bush created an imperial presidency now taken over by the ultimate liberal.

Dont forget the fort dix six and the attempted bridge bombing. I agree with most of the other stuff.
