Global cooling hype untrue
October 27th, 2009 by Rhiannon Bowman in NewsThere are some folks in our world who prefer to ignore science and cling to the droolings of drug-addled talk show hosts and Faux News. If you ask them, global warming is a myth and the planet is actually cooling. Not so says scientists. This decade — the one we are currently living in — will go down as the hottest in recorded history.
So, why do people choose to believe the far-right, pro-big business bologna? Good question. Besides the fact that so many people from that segment of society not only believe but repeat anything their propaganda machines say — to the point of being known as “ditto heads” — my best guess is they don’t want to accept the fact that they’re in some way responsible for ruining their children’s future. Not only that, they don’t want to take responsibility for cleaning up the mess humans have created.
For the rest of us, though, we’ll stick with real — not lobbyist funded — science and we’ll do what we can to reverse the damage our species has caused.
The Earth is still warming, not cooling as some global warming skeptics are claiming, according to an analysis of global temperatures by independent statistics experts.
…
The statisticians, reviewing two sets of temperature data, found no trend of falling temperatures over time. And U.S. government figures show that the decade that ends in December will be the warmest in 130 years of record-keeping.
Global warming skeptics are basing their claims on an unusually hot year in 1998. They say that since then, temperatures have fallen — thus, a cooling trend. But it’s not that simple.
Since 1998, temperatures have dipped, soared, dropped again and are now rising once more. Records kept by the British meteorological office and satellite data used by climate skeptics still show 1998 as the hottest year. However, data from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA show 2005 has topped 1998.

Oh, and in related news: CPCC is getting some big money for an energy center. See, those in the know are are taking action working to create jobs. Meanwhile, the ditto heads … well, they’re still nodding.

Trying to convince Fox News believers that the earth is warming is like trying to convince the scientists over at the trailer park that men really have been to the moon and Elvis realy is dead.
A snowball has a better chance in … well, you know where.

You guys need to look at the temp data instead of just blindly trusting NBC and the CL repeaters.
Let me address the stupid points of this article and the one highlighted as well.
“Since 1998, temperatures have dipped, soared, dropped again and are now rising once more.”
Temperatures have always dipped, soared and dropped for the entire history of temperature readings GEEZ. What they fail to mention is that the trend is DOWN over thsi time period, just like the trend was UP before 1999. The temperatures peaked and dipped on the way up, just as it will peak and dip on the way down.
“If you ask them, global warming is a myth and the planet is actually cooling. Not so says scientists. This decade — the one we are currently living in — will go down as the hottest in recorded history.”
Notice how he really didnt answer the question. If he was force to answer yes or no he woudl have to say yes the world is cooling. Instead we get this crap about the decade being the hottest. The hotest decades happened about 400 years ago but America was not keeping records at this time because we did not exist yet. Here is how the world can be cooling and have the current decade as the warmest in 130 years. Imagine a curve that goes very steeply. Now from the end of that point slowly curve back down at a shallow angle.
The biggest problem with people like Al Gore is that they can throw some nonsense out there just like Bowman is doing but it takes lots of time and energy to disprove each and every claim and it cannot be done in a simple sound bit. It really requires a bit of research on the part of individuals to really understand what is going on.
Here is a nice thing to complicate matters. The Earth has been getting warmer for over a century. This has been occuring long before humans created SUVs and gigantic factories. This shows that there is Global Warming BUT disproves Man Made Global Warming. The earth’s temperature has always been changing and always will. It is Hubris to think we are so powerful that we are the controlers of the planets climate!
Another thing to remember is that EVERY single climate model failed to predict the current decades drop in temperatures. The models had actually predicted a HUGE swing up in temperatures. These are the very same models that will be directing trillions of dollars of our money.
Know the facts so you cannot be manipulated by the likes of Bowman or Grooms or the main stream media.
Here is a link that provides people with both sides of the debate. Judge for yourself!

Obviously YOU didn’t look at all of the data, Frank. Look at this graph: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate/research/global-jan-dec-error-bar-pg.gif
You’re telling me that you see a downward trend?
Are you dyslexic?

No, but you might not know how to read!
Your graph has the dates 1901-2000 dude!!!
Anyways your graph also spans 130 years so you cannot see the dip in temperatures since your graph is too far out and may not even cover the years 2001-2009.
If you grab a graph that goes back even farther you will see that the current temps are not even close to the high temperatures we had in the past from about 800-1400 AD. The IPCC likes to leave this information off since it destroys the hysteria because it has been this warm and warmer in the past when there were no SUVs. Anyways I said it has gotten cooler in the past ten years not frozen. Even looking at your graph if we see a similar pattern you would expect a flat spot at the top of a sine wave before the inevitable decline.
Anyways here are some helpful links. Readem and weep.

Unfortunately for the future of civilization, there are far too many dumbed-down products of government indoctrination centers (public schools) that prefer to ignore fact and believe the ranting of profiteering, loser politicians, and their Faux Science. It is beyond their abilities to understand that humans have only been able to record temperature for the past several hundred years and that until very recently was very limited in scope due to costs and debates over methods and scales.
The very fact that these hysterical flat-earthers derive their arguments in support of a global trend by extrapolating data from at most few hundred years of spotty and inconsistent “data” against the 4.6 billion year history of the earth ought to invalidate that opinion in the eyes of the public – but it doesn’t since that public is a product of the same “educational” system. After all how can you explain to fish that they are wet?
Continuing this debate is only enabling the climate change profiteers and endangering all mankind.
We should instead be debating the damage these shallow minded lemmings are doing to our ability to adapt to natural temperature fluctuations by developing genetically engineered crops that require little fertilizer or pesticides and can thrive in a wide range of climates.
