Here one day, gone tomorrow — there sure is a lot of crap filling the airwaves these days. And chances are, you’ve moved on from those songs, too — unless you thought they were terrible in the first place.

Fraid Knots win again

The Friad Knots dominated the Cockpit Candies, 127-90, during the Aug. 30 match of the Charlotte Roller Girls intraleague season.

The final standings for the 2009 intra-league season have the Block’em Sock’em Rollers (2-0) in first, Fraid Knots (1-1) second and Cockpit Candies (0-2) third.

The championship round, originally scheduled for Sept. 12, has been canceled due to the continuing repair at the Grady Cole Center. The bout will now be held on Dec. 6 and has been designated a Fan Appreciation Night. Details have not yet been announced.

Block ‘Em Sock ‘Em Rollers win again

The Charlotte Roller Girls held another intra-league bout on Aug. 9 at the Grady Cole Center. The Block ‘Em Sock ‘Em Rollers defeated the Fraid Knots 97-95. Here are some views from the bout:

Roller Girls kick off intra-league season

The Block ‘Em Sock ‘Em Rollers defeated the Cockpit Candies 92-66 at the Grady Cole Center on July 19 during the first match of this year’s intra-league championship of the Charlotte Roller Girls.

BoToxic Bruz’her left with an ankle injury in the third period — just evidence that the girls are out in full-force even when competing against themselves.

The next bout is on Aug. 9 with the Block’em Sock’em Rollers taking on the Fraid Knots.

Bush dodges shoes

The ultimate insult in Iraq is having a shoe thrown at you, or being hit with a shoe. Remember the statue of Saddam Hussein being beaten? Or this guy beating a picture of Saddam with a shoe?

Well, over the weekend, President George W. Bush was in Iraq giving a speech when an Iraqi journalist threw two shoes at him. Bush’s “quick like a cat” reflexes got him out of the situation – of course, Secret Service agents jumped on the guy and dragged him out…
