First Friday means gallery crawls

Friday, June 5th, 2009

“It’s the first of the month, get up, get up, get up … It’s the first of the month, wake up, wake up, wake up…”

OK, I’m through reminiscing about Bone Thugs N Harmony.

But it IS the first Friday of the month, and that means gallery crawl time! Charlotte Historic Southend Gallery Crawl is presented by The Silo’s of South End. Here’s a list of the participating galleries, and they recommend starting off at Charlotte Art League, 1517 Camden Road. 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

On the other side of Uptown is the bi-monthly NoDa Gallery Crawl, centering around and near 36th and Davidson streets. You’ll find several restaurants and pubs, a deli, a cute coffee shop, a dog bar (humans welcome), wine bars, live music venues, a few boutiques and shops and several galleries all within a very few of blocks. And a tip that I learned from Twitter: Carolina Raptor Center will be bringing by a couple of their birds to The Boulevard. 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
