A few weeks back the group celebrated the release of their debut CD/LP via Brooklyn label, Colonel Records. Local DJ, Reactionary Records owner and writer Paul Tilghmon, better known to the tenets and tourists of Little 5 Points as Park-It Paul A.K.A. DJ Sars, tracked down the elusive Wolves the night of their record release party a few weeks back to find out more about the record.

Paul caught-up with the group’s frontman Tom Cheshire for this telling and provocative rendezvous in the mens room at The Star bar.

Paul Tighlmon:  So how are your tabs around town?

Tom Cheshire:  Pretty good, I think I’m paid up with most bars and everyone else. speaking of tabs, I was at my chiropractor the other day and she said that you had a tab with her.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me, we’ll talk about it later.

We’ll talk about it later.

I heard something happened today with you and a couple of your clients around lunch time, what was that about?

Oh that.  Had some friends in town last night so we got in around 6 a.m. and had to be up by 8 a.m.  The clients wanted Chinese Food.  So I went to pick it up at 11 a.m.  I got the food and put in my trunk... I woke up in the restaurant lot @ 11:45 (laughter…).

What happened?  Were they pissed?

No, (laughter…) I told them there was a lot of traffic, so I  microwaved it and they were happy.

Congrats on the release of your new record.  How did you hook up with Colonel Records?

Colonel Records...  Basically The Weight are on Colonel Records and our guitar player Marlow Sanchez, and our drummer Kelsey Wilson played with The Weight.  Joseph Plunket’s an old friend of ours, we chatted and they put out our record and we’re really stoked about it.

Our friend Mike Griffith left the band and you replaced him with Kelsey Wilson.  What does Kelsey bring to the Wolves besides his drum skills?

Kelsey is great.  Mike is great.  Mike moved on.  He had to go off and do some other things.  Kelsey brings in a fresh attitude.  And with a kid, he’s more grounded and a little safer than we are.

Any future plans for touring now that the record is out?

Celebrating tonight here at the Star Bar and in Savannah tomorrow night. We’re playing some shows in Baltimore and New York soon.  After that we’re hooking up with our friends Leatherface from Sunderland,  England, for some shows in the South in early November.

Sounds good. Its getting late we have to cut this short... It was nice to bump into you.

(Laughter…) Nice to bump into you too (laughter).  Gotta get out of this bathroom, I’ve got clients in 20 minutes... We’ll talk about it later.
