Walking the Beltline part 2: Audio slideshow edition!

A few of us here at CL hoofed it along the Beltline again Tuesday with Angel Poventud. We picked up the loop where we left off the other week at its Southeast edge in Glenwood Park at the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Bill Kennedy Way (aka the Glenwood Connector) and walked the 4-ish miles (about 2 hours) southwest to Adair Park. The most striking difference between this week’s walk and last week’s was the amount of development (or lack thereof) along the route. While the southeast corridor crosses more major rights of way, it has a much more bucolic, pastoral feel compared to the northeast corridor’s industrial atmosphere, with all of its old warehouses, mills and modern urban strip malls.

And blackberries! Blackberry brambles, distinguished by their bright white daisy-like blossoms, line long stretches of the Beltline here. Food critic and wild blackberry groupie Besha Rodell predicts the fruit will be ready for the pickin’ in about three weeks. Blackberry Beltline walk anyone?
