Swine flu: protect yourself holistically

April 28, 2009 at 6:00 am by Carol Roberts

The big news today is about the threat of the “new” swine flu. The outbreak started in Mexico with a cluster of twenty deaths from severe viral pneumonia. Since then multiple milder cases have been reported in Mexico, the United States and Canada. Two interesting facts need to be investigated. Read on to find out how to protect yourself and your family.

Fact number one: there have been no deaths outside of Mexico so far. Seventy-five New York City school children in a Queens high school took sick. One has been hospitalized but most are recovering on their own. The reasons for the great disparity in mortality are not yet clear.

The second fact of interest is the CDC (Center for Disease Control – the US Public Health agency) assertion that this virus is new. It has features of swine, bird and human flu virus. Now it is true of flu viruses that they mutate, – but this blending of features from three species is highly suspicious of genetic manipulation. Many websites have warned for years that the “coming pandemic” will be manufactured deliberately, as a population control measure, and as a bonanza for the vaccine and drug manufacturers. (Those of us who suspect the weapons industry to be behind our endless wars will not be surprised at this allegation.) Many of these same “conspiracy theorists” also warn that vaccines can contain all sorts of mischief (teeny-tiny transmitters and live virulent forms of diseases, to name two) and usually are only about 15- 30% effective at best. Antiviral drugs are expensive. What else can you do?

So how best to protect yourself and your family? Here are some holistic suggestions:

1. Wash your hands a lot. Soap and water is better than chemical disinfectants. Wear a mask in public places, especially El Zocalo in Mexico City.

2. Keep a supply of homeopathic remedies on hand. These are safe and effective and cause no interactions with medications you currently are taking. They may be given to small children, old people and pets, without risk of complications. (There will be a post soon about these excellent medications which are not only FDA approved, but are used extensively throughout the rest of the world.) Go to your friendly local health food store and ask them what they have in this category for flu. You will probably walk out with a remedy called OSCILLOCOCCINUM. Get one called ACONITE as well. Both of these should be taken at the first sign of an upper respiratory problem. One dose is one whole tube of tiny pellets in the case of Oscillo, and two to three little pellets for the Aconite. Let them melt in your mouth. Repeat if needed every two hours up to six times. Don’t take it any more once you start to feel better. If you don’t, move on to another treatment.

3. Slam the Vitamin C. That means, take 1000mg every two to three hours for the first few days of an illness. Vitamin C works better with “flavenoids”, – fruit and veggie compounds like rutin, hesperidin, quercitin, bioperine, etc. A little Vitamin E (200mg per day) helps recycle your C.

4. Some doctors are prescribing massive doses of Vitamin D for a short time period, namely 50,000 IU for no more than three days. Considering the low level of this important vitamin in most people, that’s not a risky dose for a short time. Good results have been confirmed for upper respiratory infections.

5. Zinc kills virus on contact. Get the lozenges and suck on one every few hours. Take a little copper to balance this zinc, between 2-4mg a day.

6. General immune system support with vitamin A (10-20,000 IU), cordyceps, colostrum or echinacea, to name a few.

Of course you should be eating lots of fruits and veggies every day, drinking lots of clean water, exercising and drinking Mama’s chicken soup to stay healthy. Oh, and don’t kiss any pigs!
