With the holiday season coming to a start and the year already coming to an end, why wait until the new year to start living a greener lifestyle? Get into the swing of the holidays by putting some eco-friendly practices to use. Bonus: They’ll help you save money as well.

Green America gives tips on reducing paper waste from gifts and cards, and how to throw a ‘Zero Waste’ holiday party.
The Examiner gives us information on how to stop all those pesky holiday catalogs (that just end up in the trash) from being sent to our homes, tips on greening your holiday menu, and what sustainable wines to serve.
Ecopreneurist suggests finding locally sourced items for all of your holiday needs: from food and beverages, to flowers and decor. They also give ideas for eco-friendly Secret Santa gifts.
Reduce the carbon footprint of your holiday meals by getting great recipe ideas that utilize organic, local, and meat-free ingredients from Whole Foods Market, VegCooking.com, and Clean Eating. Check for holiday cooking classes and tastings at your local grocery stores, like Whole Foods and Publix Greenwise Market to give you more healthy menu ideas (and see our calendar as well for more listings).
Did you know that you can even recycle your Christmas tree? (And I’m not talking about using it again the following year.) Earth 911 gives the 411 on how to “Treecycle” your tree. Believe it or not, those fir, pine, and spruces can be recycled and used for wildlife habitat creations to sand dune restoration.
