Franklin named to Homeland Security task force

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano today named Mayor Shirley Franklin to serve on an advisory task force that will review the federal agency’s effectiveness in informing the public about terrorist threats.
“I have assembled a task force, made up of Democrats and Republicans, elected officials at the state and local level, security experts, law enforcement officials and other professionals to assess our current threat level system and provide options for any improvements that are needed,” Napolitano said in a statement. “My goal is simple: to have the most effective system in place to inform the American people about threats to our country.”
The task force, which includes mayors, governors, private-sector bigwigs and former intelligence honchos, will review the current advisory system and its impacts on local, state, federal, tribal law enforcement agencies, the private sector and the general public. It will then issue recommendations to Napolitano, who will forward the task force’s report to President Barack Obama.
Says Franklin: “As the home of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is the busiest airport in the world, it is very important to me in this post 9/11 environment that we review the Homeland Advisory System to measure its current effectiveness.”

Maybe Franklin can regale the task force with how great a job Atlanta security personnel did when Brian Nichols went on his rampage.
Residents were supposed to believe that city and metro area officials knew how to effectively respond in the event of a coordinated terrorist attack. The reality was that they couldn’t find their ass with both hands after a street hoodlum improvised his way around downtown before jumping on a MARTA train and escaping from the scene. Should be interesting.

Is it my imagination or are there daggers shooting out of Franklin’s eyes?

There are no real terrorist threats. Just the perception of terrorist threats.

She looks like she just realized that she sharted.
I feel safer with her on any task force.

Please. maybe she can start with Home Park… Midtown… Wet End… Oh forget it. She cares NOTHING about the safety of those of us who voted for her. Why should he even be remotely concerned about the nation as a whole? She will do exactly what she did as Mayor, kick ass for 18 months and then evaporate.

I’m sure the Obama admin gave her this appointment because of the bad public servant she has been to the citizens of Atlanta. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense…

Does this mean she will leave office early to go work her butt off on the task force?
Please?

S Dekalb Voter is right. Everyone knows that political appointments are based strictly on merit.

She leaves office early and Lisa Borders becomes mayor. Lisa hires, them fires, her whole cabinet within 3 months. That’s what I call leadership.
I’m sure we all want that scenario to play out.

Borders will have her chance and then some when she wins the mayor’s race. Firing is a lot easier than hiring most of the time. Some fire before they have a qualified replacement. That’s a common novice mistake. Here’s hoping that isn’t what S Dekalb voter has in mind….If so, I think Lisa is smarter than that.
Here’s hoping….

Anything that distracts Mayor Franklin from further mucking up Atlanta is good. She has been worthless, and now she can participate on a task force where she can do little damage to the citiznes of Atlanta.

Eleven comments and nobody notes that the mayor is not only a bully and a waste of space, she is also sub-literate.
“As the home of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is the busiest airport in the world, it is very important to me ..”
Whatever else she is, she is NOT the home of the airport.

She’s lining up her next paycheck after she leaves City Hall. Just following Cynthia McKinney’s lead to the center of the universe.
