    My pleasure.

i’m so excited to hear that they’ll be so close! but, what’s with the bullying? are you insecure about something? i think reax does a very decent job covering everything creative loafing seems to know nothing about, music and even art!

  4. Wade Tatangelo Says:

Reax misled its readers with bad info, cited from lame sources, regarding a major event. In their zealousness to “break the story,” they failed to get facts from legit sources before running the erroneous headline: “Radiohead Tampa Show Now Official: May 17 At The Forum.”

I don’t think me calling them on it qualifies as “bullying.” As far as me being “insecure about something?” Sure, lots of things. But Reax isn’t one of them. As a journalist, though, I’m offended when blog chatter is presented as fact.

“As a journalist, though, I’m offended when blog chatter is presented as fact.”

Where was your sense of journalistic pride when you quoted Giddy-Up Helicopter when they asked to be off the record?

  6. Joe Says:

Oh, and didn’t you make a “mistake” with Zillionare and Candy Bars?

    Your excuse:

“My goal is to be accurate. Period. But mistakes do happen. The only thing I can ask is for people to alert me of them. Errors will be corrected as soon as possible.”

  7. Wade Tatangelo Says:

    Joe:

I have no regrets about the Giddy-Up story in regards to the facts I presented. My editors and I know what really transpired.

Yes, I made a mistake with Zillionare and the Candy Bars. But there’s a big difference between writing about the wrong local band with the same name as various other bands (Zillionaire)/ misidentifying a local musician (Candy bars) and publishing an “official” concert date regarding the most anticipated show of the year without first checking with the band’s publicist and/or the concert promoter.

  8. Joe Says:

So let me get this straight: you are now going on “the record” and saying that Giddy-Up Helicopter are liars? Because Jill Connor left a comment on that story on CL’s site saying the complete opposite:

“You forced us to answer questions that you swore were “off the record” and then you printed our answers. Just because you didn’t name names doesn’t make it ok. Please rethink the way that you approach interviewing musicians from now on.”

And, yes there is a huge difference between mistaking a date for a show and completely not knowing a local band’s name, a band that is in YOUR backyard. The only other Zillionare is a psychadelic band from London. Nice research. Concert dates change daily, band names do not.

All I know is I’ve been reading CL for a long time and I don’t remember your predecessor Scott Harrell alienating local music acts or labels. You’ve already got 3 strikes against you. Is it all their fault? Scott was also writing for CL when REAX was around and I don’t remember them running circles around him the way they do you. He covered the local scene as aggresively as they did. Gee, I wonder what paper he writes for now? http://reaxmusic.com/blog/scottharrell

Do you want to accuse Scott, who has been around the scene longer than you’ve been bitching about bars in South Tampa has, of the same unproffesionalism?

I know this post will go for not, maybe even be deleted. But, I remember a time when the music editor of CL used to have an open mind about music, cater to the youth market, actually be friends with the local acts. You won’t lose your objectivity if you’re that way, but you might lose respect if you don’t.

  9. Wade Tatangelo Says:

So glad that you read both my music coverage and my Bar Tab column.
I’ve known Scott for years, he’s a great writer. “Actually be friends with the local acts”? Only if it’s your band, buddy. I think we could be real pals.
